Nairobi Carpet

This African carpet design was done with SkimStone on heavy Roclon canvas.

SkimStone is not suitable for using on a flexible surface, such as a floorcloth, that will receive foot traffic. It's meant to be durable only on hard surfaces, such as concrete. However it is beautiful done on canvas that can then be adhered to a ceiling surface or hung on the wall like a tapestry.

The colors used were:
Sedona Clay (4oz. tint strength)
Toasted Pecan (2oz. tint strength)
Esprsso Bean (4oz. tint strength)

For the base, layers 1 and 2 were done with the Sedona Clay, followed by a tight layer of Toasted Pecan. After placing the Modello, different areas of the deisgn were taped off and colored with the Sedona Clay and Espresso Bean. If you look closely, you can see where some of the initial design layers that were done with Espresso Bean were then tightly backfilled with Sedona Clay.

Our SkimStone/Modello 3-day workshops teach you everything you need to know about this versatile, easy-to-use medium for floor and countertop resurfacing.
